In the wake of an ocean and environmental awareness in the world, a large percentage of the younger generation in Nigeria does not have enough knowledge and awareness about ocean conservation. To address this, the Ocean Champions Projet focus on extending education about the ocean to secondary school children; sensitizing them about budding ocean challenges and plastic pollution and introducing them to different creative actions to address these challenges.
Through the project, the students will be trained on three major themes: Introduction to waste management,
Understanding Plastic Pollution and Climate Change and Introduction to Sustainability and Development.
Furthermore, a specified number of students will be trained to convert plastic waste to wealth, reducing
plastic pollution in their community.
