Changemaker: Zafarani Juma Ramadhaniu
Country of implementation: Tanzania
Due to the ongoing climate change crisis around the world, youth in Tanzania are prone to be affected the most by 2050 if the climate change is left unchecked. Zafarani and a group of her friends who have co-founded an organization called Environmental Management and Community Awareness Organization (EMCA) decided to organize a training workshop for a secondary school in Ubungo Dar es Salaam, Tanzania where at least three climate-related activities of waste management practices, tree planting, and clean-up initiatives will demonstrate increased environmental awareness and action.
All the activities will be conducted in 8 weeks of July and August 2025. There will be a training of 200 students and 2 teachers in climate change and related issues. There will be more use of teaching aids like pictures and other materials to foster more understanding. Also, we will translate the climate change terms and definitions in Swahili and print them then we will distribute them among students and post them on the announcement board for long-term remembering. The expected outcome is youth will engage themselves in climate change action activities and it will foster the spirit of conserving their environment at a very young age so as to prepare a generation of people who are ready to shape the future.
