7 in 10 teenagers in the Zuba community in the Gwagwalada area council of Abuja stand the risk of dropping out of high school, becoming pregnant, being involved in cultism, drug addiction, gambling, negative peer
influence, and other vices. To change this narrative, Teens Connect Africa is implementing the Talent
Development Acquisition Acquisition Project a 3-month intensive mentorship program on talent
development and practical skill acquisition program for 25 teenagers as a means of positively engaging
them. This project provides participants with an opportunity to acquire skills in fashion design, hairdressing,
Barbing, and confectionaries and they will also develop their creative talents in Music, Dance and Acting.
The teenagers will be trained by expert business owners and creative consultants who expose them to the
concept of starting and sustaining a business and also how to productize and monetize their creative
abilities for economic and community development.
Teens Connect Africa selected 25 teenagers out of 150 applications from different communities in
Gwagwalada Area council. Global Changemakers, wisdom impact house, and other well-meaning Nigerians
are among the supporters of this initiative.
