Women make up 70% of the global healthcare workforce, yet hold only 25% of leadership positions.
Despite being the majority in the field, women continue to face structural barriers that limit their
access to decision-making spaces in health organizations. This disconnect means that essential
perspectives, often shaped by lived experiences, are missing where key decisions are made.
To help change this reality, four Brazilian women working in health came together to create Juntas, a network aimed at empowering and supporting women’s leadership development in healthcare. Juntas is not only for those already aspiring to lead, but also for those who may not yet see themselves in leadership roles, but hold the potential to drive transformative change. By fostering connection, offering inspiration, and focusing on the development of strategic competencies, the network provides a platform for women to gain the knowledge, confidence, and skills needed to step into leadership positions.
Juntas is built around three core pillars: Connect, Inspire, and Transform. Through monthly gatherings that include workshops, guest talks, group discussions, and collaborative reflections, the network creates an environment where leadership is nurtured through learning, practice, and shared experiences. In less than a year, Juntas has already engaged over 60 women across Brazil, continuing to grow as a space where new leadership stories are built and developed.
