"Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world“ - Nelson Mandela
300 Children in the village of Agou Doglobo in Togo, all with a burning desire to learn and big dreams to acheive, walk 28km (17 miles) to school each day. Beyond the incredible physical burden placed on children as young as seven years old, this daily journey is also a dangerous one as it leaves the children vulnerable to many threats. The journey takes over 4 hours (on a good day) all time that could be spent learning - or simply being kids!
By building Cambiela School in Agou Doglobo, with support and buy-in from the community, they hope to play a part in creating a safer childhood for the children, an improved education and a greater chance for success. They have even been able to source qualified teachers from the village itself!
