Ayni EduTec is an educational initiative designed to empower youth aged 10 to 21, primarily from Indigenous communities in the Cañar region of Ecuador. The project aims to spark young people's interest in pursuing careers in science and technology by combining technical learning with a cultural approach. It emerges in response to the notably low representation of Indigenous youth in STEM fields.
Throughout the program, participants will engage in hands-on workshops on robotics, programming, basic electronics, and applied science, using recycled materials and accessible components. Beyond providing technical skills, Ayni EduTec seeks to build confidence, self-esteem, and leadership in participants, encouraging more Indigenous children and youth—especially girls—to pursue STEM-related educational paths.
The project’s intercultural focus allows for the integration of ancestral knowledge with modern tools, strengthening cultural identity and promoting learning that is grounded in the local territory and community realities.
