Born in Romania in 1995 and adopted in 1997 from an orphanage in Cluj- Napoca, Romania by a German couple. The family moved to New Zealand in 2006. Alex is the leading voice for children’s rights in New Zealand and he seeks to reopen international adoptions from Romania, which have been closed since 2003. He studies International Relations & Politics and Psychology. He is an Ambassador & Board of Trustee for (I’m Adopted) which helps people who are adopted find their biological family and provides post-adoptions support. He is also working on a social enterprise to help youth employability in Romania. He completed an Internship at Tearfund, a humanitarian aid and development organisation.
