Changemaker: Nomzamo Moyo

Country of implementation: Zimbabwe

Agribots is a youth-led, grassroots project designed to empower children from underserved communities in Zimbabwe with practical robotics skills while addressing local challenges like food insecurity and climate change. Under the broader FAME initiative, Agribots introduces students to basic coding, electronics, and smart agriculture through hands-on activities such as school-based hackathons, rocket model-building with eco-friendly sugar propellants, and smart farming prototypes.

The project blends technology and sustainability education, aiming to inspire youth to apply science to real-life problems in their communities. Through a series of workshops, inter-school debates, feeding programs, and collaborative design challenges, Agribots builds not only technical skills, but also confidence, teamwork, and innovation.

Agribots is led by aerospace engineering student and youth leader Nomzamo Moyo, supported by a team of educators and robotics professionals. The project runs from June to August 2025 and aims to reach at least 300 students across 5 schools in Bulawayo. For more information visit: https://aviationfamily.myportfolio.com
