What is a Global Changemaker?
Sadiq is bringing the digital world to remote communities in Peru. Matheus is teaching music in post-earthquake Haiti. Nimesh and Alanda are empowering young people to become agents of change in Nepal and Indonesia – and the list goes on and on…
These projects, and many more, are developed and run by Global Changemakers around the world. With the support of the British Council, community activists and social entrepreneurs aged 16-25 are actively bringing about positive change – locally, regionally and globally.
Becoming a Changemaker is a mindset and a process: participants commit to working towards positive change in their communities and in return, the British Council commits to help Changemakers by giving them tools to increase the impact and reach of their project work.
A Changemaker’s engagement may take a number of forms: taking part in a regional or global think tank, participating in an awareness raising campaign or developing and running a project which will be supported by the Global Changemakers team and by partner organisations.
