Country of Implementation: Nigeria
In Nigeria, many women in their 20's and 30's still struggle with silence, stigma, and misinformation around their menstrual health. Conversations are often dismissed, misunderstood, or reduced to pad drives focused solely on teenagers. Sandra Okeke and a group of passionate changemakers are challenging that narrative. In September 2025, they will launch the SyncHER Period Circle, a project aimed at empowering middle aged women to take control of their menstrual wellness through fitness, education, nutrition guidance, digital tracking support, and safe peer-led spaces.
Taking place in Enugu State, the project will directly engage 200 women aged 20–35 from the University of Nigeria and surrounding urban communities, with an indirect reach of over 400 women. SyncHER Period offers a hybrid experience, blending a physical menstrual wellness outreach and fitness sessions with online community support.
To ensure inclusiveness and community sustainability, the project will also engage medical student associations and SRHR-focused groups like the Nigerian Medical Women’s Association for outreach and expert-led conversations.
Participants will gain access to a private online support circle where they can ask questions, track their symptoms, and receive personalized tips. They will also co-create content for SyncHER Period’s debut menstrual wellness podcast, amplifying real stories and breaking menstrual taboos across digital platforms.
The project will run from September 2025 to February 2026, wrapping up with a wellness hangout that combines fitness, personal stories, and conversations with SRHR experts. The goal is to grow and replicate this model across other Nigerian Universities and communities, because every woman deserves to feel heard, supported, and informed about her menstrual health.
