Juyaa

Changemaker: Maria Paula

Country of implementation: Colombia

Juyaa is an initiative aimed at empowering Wayúu women artisans, who play a fundamental role in the livelihoods of their families but face significant barriers in accessing key resources and knowledge in business management, technology, and finance. After more than 7 years of work in indigenous Wayúu communities, and after a thorough diagnosis of their needs, we have identified the urgent need to offer comprehensive training to enable them to manage their artisan businesses in an autonomous and sustainable manner.

The program offers a digital educational platform designed to train artisans in key skills such as marketing, pricing, financial management, and online sales. Through a course structured in 10 steps, participants will learn how to sell their products directly in the digital marketplace, optimizing their income and reducing dependence on intermediaries. In addition, for craftswomen without internet access, the program includes a training option through phone calls, ensuring the inclusion of all participants.

The project aims to improve the economic autonomy of Wayúu women, promoting community leadership and fostering the development of sustainable businesses that contribute to inclusive economic growth. Juyaa not only boosts the entrepreneurial capacity of the craftswomen but also strengthens the social fabric of the Wayúu communities, creating an environment of cooperation and empowerment.
