Green Empower Malawi: Off-Grid Solar Solutions addresses the persistent lack of electricity in rural Malawi. Led by Global Changemaker Joel Christoph, and supported by the Machinga Youth Alliance, the initiative equips community members with the skills and tools to install and maintain small-scale solar systems at local schools, health posts, and youth centers. These off-grid systems reduce reliance on fossil fuels and expensive generators, promoting cleaner, more affordable energy for everyone.

In addition to technical training, participants receive entrepreneurship workshops, empowering them to launch micro-ventures around solar maintenance and product distribution. Green Empower Malawi’s pilot phase will run from May to December 2025, with a focus on building local ownership, capacity, and resilience. By the end of the project, we aim to see a network of youth-led solar solutions powering key community services, spurring economic growth, and improving quality of life across rural Malawi.
