mentorship

As a participant in the programme, you will be paired with a mentor who is an experienced changemaker and who will guide you through our carefully designed five-part mentorship journey.

Over the course of twelve weeks and with the support of your mentor, you will be equipped with tools, skills, knowledge and understanding to be the change you wish to see. You will also have the opportunity to directly apply what you have learned by being mentored in the planning and creation of your own social impact project!

"The Mentorship Program was truly helpful in guiding me to develop my project. I found every chapter to be helpful and significant to the development of my community project."

"A mentor is someone who sees more talent and ability in you than you see in yourself
- then helps to bring it out of you." - Bob Proctor

chapter 1

Know Yourself

We start with sessions designed to help you get to know yourself - your story, your values, your strengths - and understand how this connects to the change you want to create in your community.

chapter 2

Empathise

Empathy is a critical skill for any leader. In this chapter, you will learn about the different kinds of empathy and how to practice it as well as receive tools to use it to understand and develop solutions to challenges.

Create

With a deepened understanding of the challenge you wish to address, it’s time to create or expand on ideas for solutions. In this chapter your mentor will guide you through activities to map out existing solutions, find gaps and create effective ways to use your unique experience to contribute to a better world.

chapter 4

Manage Resources

After developing your ideas, it’s time to put them into practice as a project. In this chapter, your mentor will help you practically understand how to do so. You will learn about recruiting and managing a team, communicating your idea to different stakeholders, fundraising, planning, and other topics.

chapter 5

Persist

Last but not least, you’ll learn to persist. Being a changemaker working to make a difference is challenging and it can be very demanding. In this chapter, you will learn to take care of yourself and your team members, to deal with unexpected situations, and to make your project sustainable.

what participants had to say

"This program is more than just about developing a social change project or forming useful connections, networks and access to resources. It teaches you the most valuable lessons about yourself and guides you down a path of self discovery, which in this digital media age is a rare but imperative opportunity to take. The way GCM helps mould young people is indescribable and extremely helpful to your overall growth as a person.”

- Sophia Jacobs, South Africa

"Definitely, the idea of young people coming together, cultural exchanges, the space to ideate and share perspectives and peer to peer interaction were highlights from my GCM Journey. These served as key principles in my project too."

- Amrita Brains, India

"A learning experience that expanded my understanding of the world and the problems impacting my community."
