Climate change, Guildford 2008
Hello Everyone!
I am now recovering from a tiring 3-week mock exam period when I had to study all we did in two years time! This week I am going back to my normal life: tennis, msn, art, meeting friends, school... :p Other than that, my activism was left a little bit behind since I had to concentrate studying and in a months time the real exams will be coming.
I am not doing anything big now but with a bunch of friends we decided to promote the "earth hour" around our school and in our city by going round and simply telling people about it and sticking posters :p . That's what it's all about: at 8pm March 29, 2008 millions of people in some of the world's major capital cities will unite and switch off lights for Earth Hour. This simple action will add some more years to this planet's life!
So it would be good if you promoted this as much as you could in your own cities http://www.earthhour.org/
Other than that I am waiting with excitement for summer holiday! I'll have 3 months to put some plans into action and of course I'll be moving around Cyprus and may be do some traveling!!!
I hope all of you are doing well! I was really delighted to hear the news of many of you! And finally, this is something I wrote some days ago...
To the most pure and shiny diamond of all, whose variety excites the senses
But I am afraid its sparkle is fading...
A dancing pebble in the cosmic ocean,
a tiny dot in the map of eternity.
Its mysterious creation,
an insignificant day in the diary of times
but so vital for us the careless players.
It does not have a soul,
but yet it spurs out of life, love and intense emotion
gifted to every living cell.
And what have we given back?
We only exploit its endless generosity for short-lived moments of joy
which are now turning into the worst nightmare.
The wrinkled stars in the thoughtful sky,
seem to know the story and give their signs.
But the stars are unseen under the bright city lights
of the cities we prefer to call our world.
And I lie here with you,
gazing at the sprightly sky,
away from those annoying lights,
where nature has its own spectacular rules.
I look at the fire in your eyes
and I cry.
Then we get up and walk,
away from them,
in a path that's never been walked before.
You hold me firmly and whisper in my ear: "take care of your steps"
And I only have,
the compass of life in my hand
and a pot of jasmine buds in my heart.
Devoted to our earth...
With love,
Christina xxx

You inspire me Christina!!! i will visit you someday now that i finally know where you live lol, i didnt know that Cyprus has such a different translation in portuguese, lol. But dont feel regret for leaving a little bit your activism behind, you have priotrities such as your own education, it provides you back up and makes you stronger, and then when you get back to your activism you will be recognized and you will call attention spontaneously, because you got huge!
