Summing up the Fourth Annual Global Youth Summit

As you know last Sunday 60 young people from all across the Globe, embarked upon High Wycombe for the Global Changemakers Fourth Annual Global Youth Summit, where they participated in a lively programme led by John and us peer facilitators from the GCM Alumni.

The week was very engaging and we were visited by many guest speakers  including; Francesca Martinez who as normal was brilliant, Paul Hilder from Avaaz.org and Alexis Ettinger from Oxford University plus many more.

The 60 also had an excursion to London, where some of them enjoyed a flight on the London Eye and a cruise on the River Thames, whilst a small group went onto visit the Prime Minister Gordon Brown at No.10 Downing St.

The 60 also visited a number of organisations within London, from well known NGO’s to very local organisations, which helped them to think about their Community Action Projects.

We also had a reception which was hosted by Kerry McCarthy MP at the Gallery in St Martin in the Fields, whereby we were joined by many prestige guests including; the Rt.Hon Dawn Butler MP – who gave a very motivating speech.

All in all the week was highly successful and it was great to see the 60 new Changemakers fully flourish throughout the week, both in ideas and of course their incredible artistic skills that were amazing, I for one look forward to seeing the outcomes of their CAP’s in months to come!
