WCC-3: Thursday
Trying to catch Ban Ki Moon…
On Thursday 3rd September, ministers and presidents from different nations signed the declaration about the Global Framework on Climate Services, which was supposed to be the main political target of this conference. This declaration is “a bridge linking climate information to the Copenhagen negotiations” said Ban Ki Moon, the Secretary General of the UN, during the high level session.
Another important output of the conference was all the recommendations that are supposed to me made by the different working groups by scientists and policy makers. Their recommendations link climate information with issues such as water, agriculture, transport, tourism, biodiversity, resource management and health.

I think this is enough about the formal meetings, now the most interesting part of the day. I am always with my camera because I am photographer and this event was the perfect moment for having pictures from high leaders as Ban Ki Moon. David Lawless has been intensively trying to find a way to get a picture with the most important person working at the UN so he has been asking and looking for people to get that. Because David was told that “Banki” was on a special meeting with governors, we jump just in front of the room he was and we stand outside waiting for him. When he came out, off course he did not look or pay any attention to us: we just went running after him, following the massive group of people that was surrounding him. He went into a room where people where waiting, I just followed and then I saw lots of photographers on the floor, I just realized: this is a press conference! I was just next to the guy from AFP and REUTERS (biggest photography agencies in the world). I was at one meter from “Banki”, listening to his speech, learning from his diplomatic wisdom and taking cool pictures. I was lucky because I didn’t have any journalist badge, they normally check that everybody has it! My camera protected me otherwise they could kick me out. At some point of this exciting moment, I was so clumsy trying to crawl and just and getting entangled with my skirt…
Greetings from Geneva,

P.S.: Here are some pictures of Ban Ki:
