Team Tuesday (31/1/2012)
It’s been an exhausting week in Global Changemakers land, with all the champagne and parties that come with an anniversary…
… we wish. Actually, I’m not sure we do – champagne is nice, I guess, but nothing beats the heady exuberance of working with a network of amazing, passionate people around the world. A bit of the good old bubbly may be nice, but we’ve got it beat, thanks to Changemakers everywhere. What always helps is the wishes from people around the world, as in this video kindly prepared by Changemaker Trevor:
So, what’s been going on at Changemakers HQ, other than winter putting in a return appearance (Kath is stuck at home, since the roads are covered with snow and quite probably patches of ice, so she’s keeping her furry familiar Mr Jansen company)? Well, for one thing, Gaby’s finished selecting the successful CAP and GAP submissions for this grants cycle – read all about it here. As always, congratulations to the successful project teams! We’re looking forward to seeing your projects getting the success they deserve.
Also, I’ve been going through the responses to our Annual Survey 2011, and it’s been interesting, at least for those of us who have a secret, shameful liking for statistics. We will reveal more on the results soon, but for now, here are the Top 5 areas of activism our Changemakers are active in:
- Education
- Environment
- Social entrepreneurship
- Women’s and girls’ rights
- Human rights
Finally, the call for applications for our upcoming Euro-Africa Youth Summit has gone live! The website has been wobbling a bit under the rush of people wanting to apply, but we’re working to ensure that the site is stable. If you fit the profile and want to join the Global Changemakers network, make sure to apply!
Well, that’s it for now – next we should have a real treat, namely a new Letter from Maputo, from everyone’s favourite CAPs Woman. Make sure to stop by and check it out!
P.S.: And even without champagne, we did celebrate over a very nice chocolate cake last week… Did you know that Swiss people apparently eat 11.6 kg of chocolate each year?
