Some memories

So
it’s fast approaching a week after the events in Davos and two weeks since Guildford. I thought I would share some memories of both,
thoughts about the WEF and future plans!

Guildford Week

What
a week! Who else but the British Council could bring together such an exciting
mix of young people, who all were passionate, articulate and ACTIVE? Enduring
memories will have to include…

  • Running round like a headless
chicken trying to fix video cameras, "no, you can’t delete any scene just
    the last clip".
  • Playing pool and losing, but drinking
lots and lots of free milk.
  • Getting kicked out of a shopping
centre with 34 of you, but being sooo relieved to count you all back onto the
bus at 8.30pm. I was stressing!
  • Walking pass the old church on the
way to petrol station and Branko telling Lina about the ghost/wolf/scary thing
which haunted it. She was not amused!!
  • The door of my wardrobe falling off
    (sorry Horsley Park smile ).

… and many many more…

Davos
Week

Well,
you guys elected the six, so me, Asiana and a lovely Japanese lady got to spend
the weekend with them in London
before flying out to give the world leaders a piece of their minds at Davos.
The week went soo quickly up in Monstein and it was soo cool to help the crew
prepare and then share in their triumph as it all went soo well. Some
(printable) memories would have to include…

  • "Hi I’m Juan from Argentina"
(I have a sound clip which I’ll post once I get it into mp3).
  • Juan in general, never before as
Davos or Monstein witnessed such a ball of Argentinean randomness.
  • Asania falling off the toboggan and
freaking out about how cold the snow was.
  • Meeting Caroline’s husband at the
train station and wondering, "Yellow trousers… are they legal?" By the end of
the week I secretly desired my own bright yellow trousers and beard.
  • Doing poetry with Franz and
realising that perhaps it isn’t just for girls and indeed it may even be fun.
  • Going to the global young leaders
event with Armin and Asania and being the youngest 3 people there.
  • Watching our 6 spokespeople for the Guildford 60 bond as a team, do their research and
deliver the goods when they addressed the WEF.

Thoughts
about WEF

big
wealth,

large
power,

sharp
style,

excellent
youth,

cold
snow,

nice….
cheese?

Future
Plans?

Well, I think we have to keep the community going,
sharing stories and encouraging each other. This has to be done in a real way,
and there should be a element of accountability there. Who knows maybe we’ll
meet up as a group, maybe we won’t but we’ll always have this space online!!
