Pro-activism or Re-activism

The difference between you and the man in the suite in parliament or in the castle, is that you pro-active in nature. This is something I realised after a video conference meeting with the British Minster of Environment. The meeting itself was centred around the talks of Copenhagen, this being the most crucial or critical point in our generations age with the climate, after Copenhagen direction will be sought and will be given, that is if we are willing to change and live for the better or we are to remain creatures of habit who inevitably are “the architects of their own demise”.

 

Personally I as a climate change activist, I am against the 2degree cap, and I would rather have the cap as 1degreee or less. The effects of climate change shall not be escaped by anyone; the effects will not have preferential treatment or have sympathy. The climate is already changing for the worse, the question is why continue with in the very same trend? The 2degree cap itself will have massive catastrophes, some more apparent and looming than others but the fact is, all regions and lands will suffer. There are more people like you and I doing something constructive than there is of him and her in the highest office. There were people like you and I doing things addressing this issue even before we were born, again doing something more than the one in the office of power. The question is why has this issue been swept under the carpet so many times? And unfortunately the dirt that has been swept under the carpet can now be seen and felt by all cause the world is suffering with dire symptoms. The answer is the habit we as people have of being reactive to situation, regardless if we are aware of it or not.

 

Hence pro-activism and re-activism, our generation is pro-active and sees events and problems looming by the horizon and we do something about it. Global Changemakers everywhere all share one essential characteristic and that is of being pro-active. Something we need to share with everyone and to take with us as we grow into being future and current world leaders. So let’s keep doing what we do and let’s bridge the gap between the elite offices and the people we work with in our activism.
