Meet a Changemaker (1)

Starting today, we will introduce you to one of the British Council’s Global Changemakers every Monday. As the project originally started with a conversation with the World Economic Forum in Switzerland, and as six of next January’s Guildford 60 will go on to Davos, we thought it appropriate to start with an upcoming Changemaker from Switzerland.

My name is Patricia, I’m 19 years old and live in Switzerland.

I am communicative, like organizing and look always forward to new experiences. My hobbies are all kinds of sports (circus, skiing, tennis,…), politics (I am part of the socialist party in Switzerland and a member of the youth council (our state’s young government commission). Furthermore I enjoy traveling and thereby getting to know new cultures very much. I also love to cook and bake, to go out dancing with my friends or just hang out and have conversations…

Since September 2008, I’ve been studying law at the University of Basel. I furthermore work part-time at the ticket office of the Theater Basel. ’m planning my Masters in International Affairs.

What I think makes me a good Changemaker is my ability to listen to people and to balance reasons. I am open to all opinions and views. I moreover think that, when we are even given the chance for change, we have to take that chance and put all possible effort into our – own – future!

I wish to attend this event because I think that we will be able to get to know great, active, young people and thereby learn much about other cultures and handlings.

I am sure that we will be able to discuss many aspects and maybe learn to look at things from a completely different point of view. Every one of us has lived through completely different experiences and has to handle with dissimilar preconditions. It is obvious, therefore, that we have a big variety of starting positions.

Consequently, I expect to have many interesting conversations and learn to look at various aspects from a different point of view.
