Children for Children – Kinder für Kinder

Do you know that over 10% of Namibia’s population is suffering from HIV/Aids? And that because of that many children lost their parents; namely 10% of the population are orphans!

Well, I did not know that fact, before I met Elsabe van Vuuren in January at the Guildford Forum. Like me, most people in Switzerland do not know much about the desperate impacts of that virus. Especially primary school children, who are often spoiled nowadays, are not aware of many quite crucial facts about our planet. So I decided to change something about this.

Elsabe and me set up the charity called “Children for Children” or in German “Kinder für Kinder”. The point is that young kids in Switzerland bake cakes or make some artwork, which they will sell in order to send the earned money to the orphans in Namibia. There Elsabe will use this money to buy school uniforms and books, food, clothing and other basics for these children. In return the Namibian children will write letters and upload pictures on our homepage: http://www.children-for-children.webs.com/ so the Swiss children will see what a great impact their effort has in Namibia.

On April 3rd 2009, the first school will organize an Easter Sell and I am very excited about how it will turn out and how much money we will be able to make.

I sent the concept to the various headmasters of my Kanton (state) and hope for many teachers who will support our cause!
