Announcing the Euro-Africa Youth Summit 2012!
We’ve already teased our next regional summit, but now we’re ready to officially announce it: the Global Changemakers Euro-Africa Youth Summit 2012!
Where and when?
The Euro-Africa Youth Summit will take place in Brussels in June 2012. (The exact dates will be announced in time for the call for applications.)
Who?
We’ll be bringing 60 community activists, social entrepreneurs and volunteers from the two regions – Sub-Saharan Africa and Europe – to the summit. Applicants must be between 18 and 24 on the first day of the summit.
In particular, we’re accepting applications from those resident in the following countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and Europe:
SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA Angola Benin Botswana Burkina Faso Burundi Cameroon Central African Republic Chad Comoros Cote d'Ivoire Congo (DRC) Djibouti Equatorial Guinea Eritrea Ethiopia Gabon Gambia Ghana Guinea Guinea-Bissau Kenya Lesotho Liberia Madagascar Malawi Mali Mauritania Mauritius Mozambique Namibia Niger Nigeria Republic of the Congo Rwanda Sao Tome and Principe Senegal Seychelles Sierra Leone Somalia South Africa South Sudan Sudan Swaziland Tanzania Togo Uganda Zambia Zimbabwe EUROPE Albania Andorra Armenia Austria Azerbaijan Belarus Belgium Bosnia and Herzegovina Bulgaria Croatia Cyprus Czech Republic Denmark Estonia Finland France Georgia Germany Greece Hungary Iceland Ireland Italy Kazakhstan Kosovo Latvia Liechtenstein Lithuania Luxembourg Macedonia Malta Moldova Monaco Montenegro Netherlands Norway Poland Portugal Romania Russia San Marino Serbia Slovakia Slovenia Spain Sweden Switzerland Turkey Ukraine United Kingdom
Please note that applicants must have a good command of English.
I have already taken part in a Global Changemakers summit. Can I still apply?
The 60 regular participants must be new Changemakers who haven’t taken part in previous summits. However, as with all recent summits we will be bringing 10 existing Global Changemakers (aged 18-25 on the first day of the summit) to the Euro-Africa Youth Summit as peer facilitators. They will be asked to apply between 30 January and 17 February as well.
How much does attendance at a Global Changemakers summit cost?
The British Council covers all costs (i.e. travel, visa, accommodation, meals, training costs) for the selected participants.

This is wonderful, great experience again for new Changemakers to be train again. This time I hope to apply again as a peer facilitator. Matt can I apply? Cause I never applied before since I attended the GYS 2009.
@Raluca Idor: The call for applications will go live here on 30 January, and we’ll announce it and post frequent reminders on Facebook. Once it’s up, you’ll find all the details on applying.
@almuminin: All Changemakers who have been to a previous summit and are between 18 and 25 years old at the time of the summit will be eligible to apply for a position as peer facilitator.
what are the reqiurement for the somali’s .
we are really intresting to talke part the a bove project ,
The requirements will be the same across the board (including for applicants from Somalia): in the application form and video candidates detail their track record and motivation to attend the summit, and we assess their potential and their ability to communicate effectively. We then select 60 participants from the two regions in question, based primarily on how we’ve evaluated their applications but also on having a regional/geographic balance, gender balance etc.
Very interesting. Hope i will be a part of it
am looking forward to this, let me know about the Peer Facilitation…
The application process for PFs will be as always, and it’ll also go live on 30 January. Looking forward to your application, Gilmore!
Sounds great!
Matt, when applying, is a video required for PFs as well?
Guys, do NOT hesitate to apply. Make your best effort and take your time on filling the application, beliiiiieve me it will be totally worth it. Good luck to you all !
@Fidan: The PF application consists of a written questionnaire only – no video necessary.
@everyone: Listen to Ini. The man knows what he’s saying.
kindly send me the application form
@AYPADCAM: Applications open on 30 January. Revisit this site for the application link – we have an online application process.
Let us apply for this one. Let us share our ideas and skills to the youth and global changemakers.
hi,someone asked me if he needed to be a a member of global changemakers to apply?
@Asunmonu Olasunkanmi Jeffrey: full Global Changemakers, i.e. those who have been to a summit, cannot apply as regular participants – the summits also have the function of bringing new people into the network. Existing Changemakers aged 18-25 can apply for one of the peer facilitator positions, though.
Applicants should be registered on the website and fans of our Facebook page, since we expect Changemakers to be active members of the community, but these are not actual criteria of the selection process.
waw nice i wish to be first somalia young to take part this events

After attending Global Youth Summit 2010 and 2011 I strongly recommend active young people NOT to loose their chance of becoming a member of the Global Changemakers, the best youth network in the world.

@Matt_BC
Do post the application link for Peer facilitator on Jan 30. I had a tough year with my medical school entrance exams and sixteen hours of studying everyday for the past six months ever since #girls20summit and a government conference in Israel so I literally haven’t had any progress with my own summit.
(the all girls conference with the vice president of Taiwan took me two years to cook up but it was well worth the effort lol)
hope I still have a chance after burying my nose in piles of books for six months and being torn away from changmaking
Happy chinese new year!
@Chloe: Hi there!
The links, posts and application pages are prepared and will all go up on 30 January. Looking forward to your application!
iam from egypt>>>>> any chance to participate ???
It’s really great opportunity for all young people!!!!!!!!! Looking forward to January 30!
@haitham sayed: Changemakers who have been to previous summits can apply as peer facilitators, as long as they’re between 18 and 25, regardless of which country they’re from. Regular participants have to be from the listed countries, I’m afraid.
I’m from Algeria, Can I apply or it’s must to be from one of the country listed !!
@Arif Abdeljalil: Please check my reply to @haitham above.
Hello
Just wondering where are the links for the applications? Best regards from Bosnia!
Application details are available here: http://www.global-changemakers.net/uncategorized/euro-africa-youth-summit-2012-call-for-applications.
i would like to attend how can i join this summit
@ayella fred: Check the post just above yours!
kindly keep me informed when the application is finally opened in my mail
@Matt_BC I have not received any confirmation that my application was received.
@ETO PRECIOUS OKIEMUTE: I’m not at the office until Monday (am only briefly online now), but I know that we’ve received your application and a confirmation should have gone out; perhaps it was filtered by your spam filter. Rest assured, your application will be considered.
Hello Matt!I would like to knw if those applicants whom have not received the email which notify shortlisted and interview to be taken via skype will still do or it means they are not goin to be selected?tnks
@jamalghus: The people currently interviewed are at the top of the shortlist; depending on the results, though, others may be contacted and interviewed.
Thank you Matt! That is it mean an applicant could be chosen without being interviewed?
@jamalghus: It’s more that some candidates may have their interview scheduled at a later stage, if any of the shortlisted candidates drop out for whatever reason.
Ok!matt!Thank you the response
Hi Matt,That is mean there are some shortlisted applicants whom are yet to recieve the email notification for the interview??
@matt!if I got you right.it means some of the shortlisted applicants are yet to receive email concerning the interview?Tnks
We’re currently reaching out to the 60 people at the top of the shortlist; if any of them drop out, for whatever reason, we’ll move down the list. If you haven’t received a mail about an interview, this means you’re not among the 60 main candidates, but it doesn’t mean that you’re completely out of the race.
@Matt_BC Good evening, Mr. Matt. Could you please tell us when will the final results be announced. Thank you very much indeed
@Akaki Chalatashvili: Some notifications have already gone out, and the remaining ones will follow today.
