In these days, most of the people try to create more opportunities for young generation relatively than old generations. The worst thing is in my country (Myanmar), there are very few social care centres and most of the poor old people couldn’t afford to go. We result that the proportion rate of destitution especially in old people is increasing year by year and they have been disregarded by their families and communities. Hands 4 Aged visualizes for relieving starvation mainly in frail old people who don’t get adequate level of support and been treated as a social outcast. This project is one of the most essentials to bring positive changes in elders’ life and raise public awareness relating with this happening to take an action by civilians’ cooperation. Not only we will fulfil their desires and console their minds but also we expect their families and community to know the truth of old people are not a burden and still part of our civic society. In this project, we divided three categories; Donation & Counseling, Medical care and Promoting awareness. Firstly, we will donate nutritious food and medicines to old people once in every week and volunteers who are given psychosocial trainings from SalusWorld will spend time with them by consoling and encouraging them to remain secure and independent. Secondly, for medical care; the qualified voluntary doctors from CSI organization will go and provide free medical check-ups for elders in every last weekend. We will contact with the local official health care center and discuss for further assistance if any severe syndromes occur in individuals. Finally, in order to promote awareness of this issue, related health talks and education workshops will be held not only for elder people but for all ages from the community. From these, we believe their capacities will be improved indeed. Hands 4 Aged chose 25 old people from the target area (Shwepyithar) who does not get adequate support social or financially and been treated as outcasts. Not only them but also 200 community people will be better informed through the talks we’ll provide, besides aged people can earn their own income by us; planting 20 vegetable plants with the purpose of selling them back in the market. From this project, we expect aged community to become livelier and eventually any age range can pursue ways towards intense and promising future.
