Grants

The Global Changemakers programme offers a variety of grants to the members of its network, supporting them in making a positive change in their communities and countries, as well as regionally and globally. The available grant types are:

  • Project grants (for projects developed and run by Changemakers)
  • Training grants (for training events developed and run by Changemakers)
  • Event grants (for Changemakers attending high-level events to represent the network)

Please note that these grants are only available for full Global Changemakers, i.e. network members who have been selected to take part in one of the programme’s Global or Regional Youth Summits. We cannot provide financial support to members of the community who have not been selected to attend a Global Changemakers summit.

For general questions concerning the grants, please contact us at info@global-changemakers.net.

  1. Global Change Makers is doing good work. I just want to suggest that you consider an all round empowerment of youth in East and central Africa; a region whose youth are playing so small a role in the direction and cause of their respective communities and countries.
In Kenya for example, there are five key areas that need emphasis in order to empower the youth and consequently the future socioeconomically.
These areas are; 1. Skill development and training 2. Access to information 3. Access to credit 4. Access to market and 5 technology transfer.
These areas must be addressed by creative initiatives that give them limelight and encourage them so that governments in the region do something about them. Little so far is forthcoming.
Global Change makers need to try and give these specific areas some emphasis in the programs they are doing in these regions.

  2. The Initiatives of the Global Changemakers are all in place, but I was looking into something which we have less attention at which is Climate Change and Social Entrepreneurship. Even though they are not my areas of working but have a concern to look into it and have a quick respond to the issues. I’m really emphasizing on this areas cause most of the Changemakers in West Africa have less concern about Climate Change in their Countries even the Country Stakeholders. The awareness of Climate Change can only be raise by the United Nation Environmental Protection, but I think it should not be only them to take an active role, we also as the Country men and women have a role to play. West Africa is somehow greatly affected by Climate Change so much have to be done. If may be rights, when I organized the World Habitat Day in Sierra Leone on the 3 October, 2011 at the British Council Auditorium in Freetown, I have a brief discussion with the Representative from UNEP which says, West African Citizens do not talk about their Climatic Condition, they can only respond to Climate Change when they have fall as a victim.

So I’m speaking to the GCM Team to Organized a Regional Summit in West Africa were all these issues can be exhorts.

  3. @Arnold and @almuminin: You make great points, but unfortunately our resources are limited. We have to use what’s at our disposal to serve a broad range of participants – after all, we are *Global* Changemakers.

However, we will have a regional summit next year, addressing Changemakers from Africa and Europe; expect the official announcement and call for applications in late January 2012.

    • Thank you very much Matt, we hope to have a successful regional Summit which will address all the various needs of Changemakers from Africa and Europe. But to be precisely Changemakers in Africa to be specific West Africa are really surprise on so many issues that are surrounding their activism, funding facilities are to there and it’s only few that are opportune to create funding partners as few of us raise funding from doing extra programs to mark our project a success.

We expect the Official announcement to commence at the said date.

      Regards
