In August 2010, the first regional summit for Latin America and the Caribbean took place in Teresopolis, Brazil. Bringing together 60 young social entrepreneurs, community activists and volunteers from the region, the summit resulted in seven Regional Action Projects (RAPs) being launched.

Several regional workshops took place throughout 2010. In addition, 15 Changemakers participated in the World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa in Marrakesh, Morocco where they were featured in a BBC debate on the topic of “Peace in the Middle East: Are the right people talking?”

The fourth Global Youth Summit, taking place in High Wycombe, UK, moved from its previous slot in January to November 2009. The summit brought 60 Changemakers from around the world together for a week of training, workshops and planning sessions, helping them develop their Community Action Projects. Six of the participants went on to represent the Global Changemakers at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2010 and were featured in 28 private and public sessions.

In April 2009, 20 Changemakers met in Greenwich, UK during the G20 London Summit. During the week, they met with Rt Hon Gordon Brown and Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling. Together with school children from around the UK, they composed a youth declaration on economic crisis, which was presented to Foreign Secretary David Milliband.

In March 2008, the first regional event for North Africa as well as the Near and Middle East took place in Dubai, convening 120 young leaders. Several of them went on to represent the growing network at the World Economic Forum on the Middle East 2008 in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt. More regional events took place throughout the year.

The first Global Youth Summit took place in Greenwich, UK in January 2007. The event featured 60 global participants aged 20-25, five of whom went on to represent the group at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2007 in Davos, Switzerland, taking part in the “Wisdom of Youth” panel together with Rt Hon Gordon Brown and HMQ Rania of Jordan.

how can i attend a summit?
We hold public calls for applications for our summits. Watch the website for updates – there will definitely be an application process for this year’s Global Youth Summit starting this summer.
We then select the sixty most suitable candidates from the pool of applications, and these get to attend a summit.

As i read the application Process and i saw that for application applicant should be 24 year old. But the question rises that what is the criteria for above then 24. now i am 27. can i apply.?

@Farrukh and adeel: applicants must be 18-24 on the first day of the summit (17 July). If you’re older or younger than that, you’re not eligible.
