100 days to Copenhagen…
In less than 100 days the biggest event on the political calendar will take place in Copenhagen, which will see 192 countries partake in the conference itself to seal a deal on the future of Climate Change and to replace the existing Kyoto Protocol, but is it all too much of a hype and will anything actually be signed and agreed?
There have been a number of reports over the past week stating World Leader’s have seriously underestimated the cost of adapting to the dangers of Global Warming, with new research from different institutes concentrating on climate change suggesting; the UN’s prediction of £61billion could in effect be three times the amount bringing the total too £183billion. Which goes without saying that money on the table at Copenhagen will be a key factor in the talks that go ahead, with countries flashing their cash and trying to look all mighty and powerful in leading the way out of this man made turmoil, whilst issues with the same and if not more importance are brushed under the carpet and silenced.
In the next 100 days on average: 1,400,000 people will contract HIV, 2,500,000 children under the age of five will die from living in poverty, yet all this can be stopped but it seems human life is no longer valued in this current globe! With the amount of money they are talking about to adapt to the dangers of climate change, we could be doing so many things to contribute to a better living for those who are in need, their voices must be heard and considered in Copenhagen. As whilst we wait for someone to come along and sign the deal for ‘saving the planet’ lives are being lost around the globe, which WE can actually do something about, let’s not forget the commitment to 2015!
WE CAN MAKE A CHANGE!

One Response to 100 days to Copenhagen…
I think the video say’s it all really, I don’t believe Copenhagen should just be focusing on sealing a deal on lowering Carbon emissions, PEOPLE are dying across the globe from a number of preventable issues – we need to ensure their voices are heard in the conversations! WE should be trying to improve the lives of others within this Globe, the fact over 75,000,000 children are without a Global Education is shocking, the fact diseases that are no longer present in the Western World still exist in the devloping countries is wrong, I think WORLD LEADERS need to set their priorities clear and remember the commitments they have made before making more!
