Rural Enterprises Development Initiative (REDI)

This project wants to secure sustainable quality of life for the people in Kenya by mobilizing and developing initiatives for women and other most vulnerable groups through capacity building, advocacy, and education. In order to reach sustainable growth, It is important for these groups to gain access to fundamental rights to live, for health care, sanitation, shelter, and networking services. Our aim is to ensure sustainable improvement in the quality of life for rural girls and women.

REDI plans to undertake the provision of basic formal education assistance for example provision of uniforms, bags, books and other necessary informational education and communication materials. REDI also wants to cover issues outside in-class education, such as female genital mutilation or cultural education to counter issues such as early marriages or wife inheritance to the disadvantaged school going girl child.

The post election violence in Kenya and the economic degeneration that has affected our country have lately had adverse effects on the ordinary people living in the rural areas. This has resulted into a lot of negative factors with a serious trauma on the village woman and the girl child.

The goals of this CAP are to:

  • Supply sanitary towels on a monthly basis to 20 identified schools.
  • Provide sex education and other information, education and communication materials on a monthly basis.
  • Organize co-curricular activities at the end of every term with incentives and presents distributed to winning participants.
  • Distribute basic school materials to the needy pupils.
  • Pay school fees for the identified intelligent girls at the primary level in order to advance to a higher level school.
