Health Awareness Rural Project (HARP)

Africa, with its current problems, has always had difficulties communicating information about spreading epidemics before they start to affect Africa’s population. HIDAC (Health Information Dissemination Amongst Communities) believes that the right information at the right time will avert millions of deaths of diseases.

HARP wants to fight for better communication. This will be done with four Community Awareness Campaigns. Each of them will consist of a rally through a designated neighbourhood of Lagos. 20 volunteers plus other youths will walk through a one kilometre distance distributing posters, flyers and they will be accompanied by music. The posters going to be in English and the local language and will gather people to watch them. The music will be playing from a bus and make noise in order to catch as many people’s attention as possible.

Summing up, the objectives of this CAP are:

  • To create awareness about the dangers of malaria, HIV/AIDS and tobacco.
  • To get youths actively involved in change projects.
  • To reach the marginalised communities informing them about global epidemics.
  • To form health clubs in schools.
