DARECHA

“Youth from primary, secondary and high learning institutions entering the labour force annually is about 1,000,000, but only 40,000 get employment into the formal sector. The incidence of unemployment among youth is relatively high. Youth constitutes 60% of all people who are unemployed.”

The DARECHA team believes that there is a great business potential within young people. However, they do not get access to the right networks or have exposure to potential funding, education and guidance to develop their ideas in order to create a long lasting contribution to society.

DARECHA brought together innovative, passionate and motivated young entrepreneurs (aged 16-25), who competed in presenting business ideas. Twenty finalists were selected from a pool of several hundreds of applicants and the applicants chosen then presented their ideas to a panel of successful entrepreneurs and academicians. The top three winners are sponsored to go for an intensive entrepreneurial training program for further skills development.

DARECHA:

  • Gave participants exposure to the entrepreneurship world;
  • Built a strong and solid network between the participants and leading investors in Tanzania;
  • Provided entrepreneurial training and mentorship to the participants by successful entrepreneurs;
  • Sponsored winners to pursue a course on entrepreneurship;
  • Provided exposure to avenues of funding of their business plans;
  • Introduced entrepreneurship training to the Tanzanian Education curriculum.

This successful CAP has started into a second phase!
