This CAP wants youth to start being pro-active in underdeveloped communities such as the Claremont community in South Africa and bring about change.
What’s the plan?
To start off, the organisation/group Claremont Youth Emancipation (CYE) will be called to life. The launch will be a talent show where all sorts of talents are embraced. Well-known personalities will be the judges and the prizes will be sponsored. Additionally, the launch will include a speaker (community leader) who will give a word on the importance of youth. The purpose of having a launch of CYE is to get attention. Moreover, it will serve as a platform for debates, show casing skills etc. and will initiate a long-lasting network amongst youth. CYE is a movement designed to free youth from the shackles their families once wore, or are still wearing.
Why is it needed?
Youth in Claremont fall into a dependency cycle which their grandparents and now parents have fallen into before them. Amongst the youth in the community, dreams are plentiful, but confidence and know-how is limited. The youth don’t have a platform to show case their talents nor do they have the opportunities to interact with people from various walks of life.
What does it want?
CYE will raise the young people’s awareness about the real possibilities available to them (from employment to youth empowerment initiatives) and will also encourage them to become active in their communities.
