Stimulus is a unique initiative for young people led by young people. In the initiative, we share values and desires to equip young people with the knowledge and information on issues such as HIV and AIDS as well as Sexually Transmitted Diseases. We ultimately believe it is our duty as young people to ensure we unite together to protect our future generation.
Stimulus Baby Wave is working along Stimulus’ lines, but from a different angle. Many of the children at Grace Orphan Care or in the Vulnerable Children support group have lost their parents due to HIV, but often even the kids themselves suffer from the disease.
The project provides the children within the said age group with a place where they can blossom and grow into confident, self-assured and creative young people. This will be achieved through creative activities with short stories, which will be written by the volunteers who attend classes in creative writing in literature.
The mission is to dilute narrow minded attitudes and to start talking about taboo topics such as sex and how it adds to the HIV epedemic, girls not having access to schools as well as child labour. The kids will be provided with a place where they feel comfortable to listen and take in what we will be explaining through stories tailored for them. The stories will give them a possibility to understand their situation and offer them a chance to also share their thoughts with one another.
