"In Nigeria, over 2000 teenagers get addicted to tobacco smoking daily. It kills half of its users in productive middle age (35-69). This CAP was created to fight this number."
During the SmokeFree Youth Symposium in December 2009, 8 participants from across the country were selected as potential coordinators for 123 Teens go SmokeFree Campaign with another 8 as their assistants. We conducted a two-day intensive power packed training for these 16 young people, organized by the Tobacco Control Education CASE project.
123 Teens go SmokeFree Campaign wants to:
• Educate teenagers about the dangers of tobacco smoking
• Form a SMOKEFREE school club in every school visited
• Reduce the number of teenagers beginning to smoke.
This CAP was aimed at ensuring the high moral standards of our teenagers.
