Team Tuesday (9/3/2010)

Since last week's entry was such a success with the readers, here are some more weekly updates from Global Changemakers HQ. And what a packed week it has been...

  • Last Friday Gaby spent much of the day fighting the British Council computer system, all in the service of the Changemakers: trying to finalise the CAPs/GAPs/RAPs guidelines and putting them online proved quite a struggle. Here's a photo of Gaby after hours of fighting the system:

    Heartrending, isn't it?
  • Talking of computers: we're getting new machines - and they were sorely needed. (On a good day it'd take my computer 30-45 minutes to start up properly, download updates from India (!) and install them. If I'm lucky, it'll now take half as long. wink ) Which means that, yes, we're one step closer to the Rise of the Machines

    Christmas came early this year...
  • At the suggestion of one of our most active Changemakers (hint: he's from the UK and his name begins with an 'S'...) we'll be collecting questions from the community, to be answered in future installments of Team Tuesday. Obviously we can't answer every single question, so we'll make a selection. Post your questions in the comments thread at the bottom of this entry!
  • Katherine is currently in London, at the Bee Bee Cee. Nope, she isn't trying to get a job as a news anchor (as she says, "the coffee's too bad to work here"), she's learning from the Beeb pros the latest strategies on writing for the web, blogging and Twitter.
  • We went through some of the remaining footage from WEF 2010 and came up with the following little film. Warning: the video contains scenes of carousing, Queen Rania worship and people making fun of... well, just about everyone. Enjoy!

  • And last but not least, a message to all Changemakers from our unsinkable Fran Martonffy: "You have but one wild and precious life." Definitely a motto to live by!

The ‘wild & precious life’ line comes from Mary Oliver’s poem, The Wild Geese.  Worthwhile reading for all changemakers.  Keep up the good work.
