Let me remind everyone that the application period for the Fourth Annual Global Youth Summit is coming to an end. Make sure to apply - including the application video - by 21 August.

Problems with YouTube

It seems that the uploading and sharing functions on YouTube were changed somewhat since we prepared the instructions. If you’re having problems, please follow these instructions:

Upload your video and set it to “Private”. Don’t worry about “globalchangemakers” for the moment.
Once your video has been uploaded, go to the video’s user options - they should be accessible via a button labelled “Edit.” (You may have to access your video through My Videos, which you can access by clicking on your user name in the upper right-hand corner.)
In the user options, there should be a box on the left-hand side labelled “Broadcast and Sharing Options”. There you have the two options, “Public” and “Private”, and underneath it you can see a list of your YouTube friends by clicking on the + next to Friends.
Put a tick in the box next to “globalchangemakers”.
Very important: Save the changes.

If this doesn’t work, make sure to consult the YouTube Help Resources.

As a last resort, I’d suggest that you use DropSend to send us your video. We won’t all be at the office on Saturday, so we cannot give tech support over the weekend, I’m afraid.

We do confirm every video we receive - although please keep in mind that we’re currently getting hundreds of videos a day. Any video we receive will be confirmed within one working day.

Please note that everyone’s friend request on YouTube has been accepted. We cannot send out confirmations for this, because we are receiving hundreds of videos and requests each day. Do not wait for a confirmation that you’ve been accepted - you can complete the rest of the process!

Have you also confirmed all videos you have received via e-mail? I was not able to upload my video on YouTube therefore sent it on DropSend but have not received any conformation e-mail (apart from an automatic out-of-ofice replay).

I have submitted my application but have been travelling since August 2nd and am having pro blems sending my video. I am joining Claremont McKenna College in California and am on an wilderness orienation adveture and will not have access to internet.May I send a copy of my video through drop send by August 27th.The application was sent on August 19th.

I do not want to lose this opportunity.Please let me know if this is okay.

Hi Lusine,
You will recieve the confirmation soon, since you’ve sent your video yesterday only and it was a very busy day for Global Changemakers as they were recieveing hundreds of applications and videos that day and moreover it takes atleast 24 hours to get a confirmation and GCM is off on Saturdays & Sundays!
So, wait till next week, I hope this helps

I think the GCM team will be finalising the list of participants for the Global Youth Summit at the beginning of September, so everyone should hear from them by mid-September at the latest. They’ll keep you informed!
