Peace and conflict resolution
Interested in the use of culture for conflict resolution? The following might be exactly what you're looking for!
Act2 : Culture and Conflict
British Council Switzerland has a new programme! Working with John Martin, Director of London’s Pan Intercultural Arts, and Shakthi, a theatre group from Sri Lanka, we are offering a theatre training and skills sharing workshop in Switzerland in September 2010. It will be for 12 young people aged 18-25 from communities and countries in conflict or post-conflict.
The application process opens today and runs until the end of April. Please pass this information on to your friends and to organisations that might be able to identify potential applicants. See how to apply here.
In addition, on 20 September 2010, the British Council Switzerland will run a one-day event at the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum in Geneva. The conference will look at ways in which the power of cultural relations can be harnessed to resolve conflict. Participants will include decision-makers at a strategic level from the UN, NGOs, international organisations and Geneva-based foundations. It will also include practitioners.
We are delighted that both Emma Thompson and Emmanuel Jal have agreed to be co-patrons of Act2.
