WEF Davos 2008
Well, the Road to Davos Guildford forum has come to an end; the young activists had the opportunity to put what they’d been learning to the test by putting all of it into the brief presentations to their colleagues. In the presentations they had to use their presentation and critical thinking skills to put forth their ‘mission(s)’/objectives to the rest of the group. It was incredible to see people being so creative in short space of time!
After the entire group shortlisted 15 individuals, six got voted for to go to represent the group at the World Economic Forum (WEF) and they are… [drumroll!] /two girls and four guys:
Gillion (South Africa)
Whitney (USA)
Nick (Scotland)
Rhodeena (Sri Lanka)
Juan (Argentina)
Yunan (China)
Talk about a great geographic spread!
Now the group is preparing for the WEF, making sure that they incorporate their colleagues suggestions into what they’ll be taking forward to the WEF. They are absolutely excited and want to make sure they fully represent the Guildford 60 when they go forward. Their personal comments and pics will be up soon.
To the Guildford 60 – don’t stop being cool!

Hi guys!!! I cant believe you guys are all home :( I keep hearing your voices around, yangyang saying ‘Aboud! where are my cigarrettes??!!’ or ouymayma calling me at 5 am! But there are were so many good times. every second was amazing, and it makes me so happy to think of you all and the amazing time we spent together. Ive been listening alot to that greenday song, time of your life, and remembering all the jokes we shared and the deep conversations we had.
So all of you are getting back to what you do best, your activism, and we are working hard to make sure that we take that dynamic energy and passion we all had in guilford, and channel it out to all at the WEF. I wish I could live that week again and again.
Love to u all,
Nick x

Helloooooo….Wow time did fly. I really miss you all, I miss our chill out room times, Branko’s “MIMI” and everybody else. But, we will meet again, cause such a strong bondage cant be broken not even but miles and miles of ocean, land and time difference. We will keep in touch by internet: “God bless the queen AND internet”.
Just please lets keep our passion and our vission, because that is the exact thing that makes us unique…lets make our voice, the youth’s voice heard…

Hey! Wuzzup! I just typed in this really long message, and then the computer freaked out and went offline… So… I’ve decided to shorten my message, “sweet and short”. Linda was always telling us to keep it concise, right?
I can go on and on about how I had flashes of everybody in London yesterday, but I’ll save it for today. ‘cus we have 3 people waiting to get on this computer and it’s already 12 in the night. For Davos, we’ll make sure we go there, be who we are, and do our thing. But guys, don’t just get a comfy couch, kick back with some popcorn and enjoy the show alright? You guys are here with us! E-mail us real-time, aite?
Ima sign off for now, talk to you guys real soon!

Hallo Hoe gaan dit?(Hello how are you.)
I hope you all arrived safely and not to jet lagged but judging by the e-mails you all had a long flight whether you were waiting at the airports. I don’t know how how to go about this e-mail, I think we should be saying it in person.
How do I begin… Branko please help. Let me start by saying well done to all of you, well done for inspiring me with all the wonderful personalities and the great projects and the work that you do. I feel that the Guildford Platform"yes Branko its a platform”. It was great to have met all of you and I cant wait until we meet again. I am so looking forward to representing you all at the WEF.
I don’t know how I am going to get through the Forum. I have been calling Whitney- Lauren and everywhere we go I hear Mimi. I was very nice to see Branko today. I am looking forward to see more of you before we leave London.
The Guys are pressurising me to finish with this blog and I should get to sleep we have a full day with the BC people.
I love you all and I am so happy that I got meet you all. I could not have asked for so many great friends in one place. I hope to make you all proud . So if you guys can send us your issues and challenges( Just for a refreshment.)

Hi Gillian, how’s the preparation going? I’ve tried to post you something but the site is misbehaving from my end.
Have you read about the predicted financial crisis that we were told Gordon Brown would question you about.
How about reminding them to try and implement their previous initiatives in more developing countries for eg the ITAFE should extend further than Brazil.
How about bringing up the Kyoto Protocol issue and telling that we the youths do not want them postponing the deadline for the MDGs which means that they have to sit up.
But don’t forget to first acknowledge and thank them onbehalf of the 60 for graciously giving the youth a chance to air our views
Greetings to Whitney, Rhodeena, Juan, Nick and Yunan.
LOVE YA, MISS YA, BYE YA,
Mfon

I just found out that I posted my comment under Juan’s name since we were all using the same laptop, but it’s all good!
Mfor, you’ve got a great point there. We are planning on bringing up the MDGs and the Kyoto Protocol up, so we’re gonna be pouring over notes for these few days…

Hey you guys so sorry that I didn’t write yesterday but before whitney and I could post the internet shut off :-( We’re really missing you guys….its just not the same without all of you. I just read everything that you guys wrote and you will never know how unbelievably touching it is to know that our global family is out there supporting us. I learnt alot from the conference but the most important and amazing part for me was getting to know each and everyone of you. Its amazing to say that we began the week as strangers but we ended it the firmest of friends. As I go on, no matter where life takes me I will carry all that I learnt from you and for that I will be eternally grateful. I love you guys and miss you bucketloads…..please fill us in on anything you want said.
See you when I see you…hugs…
Rhadeena
