A few thoughts from Davos

Hi everyone! This is Whitney and Nick here, blogging from the knowldege conceirge (internet cafe) at the main hall in the WEF, 9.27 am Davos time! We are drinking tea and having staring contests with journalists. We hae a packed day today. Within the next 40 minutes, we are heading to a BB C radio interview with Emma Thompson, who was so lovley to invite us to the interview. Whether the BBC knows this we shall deal with in time. Soon after, we are going to meet with the social entrepenurs, whereupon we shall lock the doors, hold them upside down by their ankles and shake them untill their pockets are empty.

With petty thuggerry over, we are going to the BBC world debate on the global economic slowdown/recession/crash/depression (delete as appropriate). Afterwards, the fun stuff starts! We are getting to visit a High School in Davos and talk to an English class! That, for all of us I am sure, will be a million times better than hobnobbing with a sea of suits, peppered with Musharaffs, Ayatollahs, and Kofi Annans, sprinkled with Bill Gates and smeared generousley with Condoleeza Rices, with some finely grated Tony Blair to finish.  I think we are all agreed on teaching the youth of Davos the Funky Munkey.

Some of the highlights from the last 24 hours in our minds.

The bus into Davos this morning, we say a trio of four year old blonde boys, all sitting quietly on the bus, in reflective jumpsuits, heading to school. As the bus stopped, they all jumped off, held each others mittened hands and strode off to school!!

Yesterday, Juan spotted a Bill Gates heading down the stairs, and thrust a leaflet in his direction, shouting 'Hello, I am Juan from Argentina!!'

Whitney and myself made an Al Jazeera journalist eternally grateful when we were standing at the bar. The journalist came up, wearing her press badge, and asked for some sandwiches. The barmaid responded in a fitting german accent, 'No! Only drinks for you press, no sandwhiches! No!'

Coming to take our order, we asked for as many sandwhiches as we could have, and illegally gave them to the hungry journalist!

And thats just a few thoughts from Davos!
